Does anyone recognise this badge, an Old English T in crowned wreath, he seems to be a police officer in a band, photo taken in East London, Mile End, circa 1890s/1900

He could be the Bandmaster for the Met. Police "T" Division band. Some Met. Police divisions (at one time) had their own bands. They were funded from the divisional welfare funds and often adopted their own (non-issue) uniform and badges.
This gent seems to be wearing Met. Police pattern buttons on his tunic and a Met. Police jubilee medal. Nice photo. Dave. |

The letter does look like a 'T' but it could easily also be a 'C', perhaps for Constabulary?
