Shoulder title lugs
Does anybody know when the hexagonal style flat lugs we’re introduced on shoulder titles please? I’ve always thought they were after WW1 possibly 20s-30s?

I've had in the past a DRAKE shoulder title with hexagonal lugs, which I've read disbanded in 1919?
Tony.

Here's a previous thread where they were described as "coffin" shaped, more dramatic perhaps but with hindsight less easy to search for.
https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...hlight=hexagon They also appear on the Imperial Crown collar badges used by many Regiments from the 1870s until ? Rob |

Thanks gents longer than I thought it came about from a conversation with a fellow collector regarding a spurious T4 Norfolk title in white metal. It was was a wrongun I’m sure as was he. One of the things I didn’t like was the lugs but you’re always at school.

See this J R GAUNT catalogue circa 1900-1910.
https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/...nts-catalogue/ Scroll down about 5 pages to Number 106 which shows their hexagonal lug design. Tim

Hi Andrew the finish looked white metal in the eBay picture. Either way I didn’t like it nor did Peter S.

Ive had a look at a lot of Cavalry shoulder titles for regiments that were amalgamated in 1922 which would suggest that the shoulder titles were made before 1922 (in theory).
All of the Ors titles have hex lugs however the smaller officers titles have normal round copper lugs. I hope that this will help. Regards Phil. |
