Just now I went through the images of the Pitt sample book (ca. 1900 - 1960) which was broken up and sold off in 2009.

I found over 60 flat military buttons. Not a single one was listed as hunt, some are service dress and most are listed as blazer.
To me it seems that buttons ordered as blazer buttons may have been used as military hunt buttons.
I do not know how many military hunts with their own pack have existed. I also do not know if officers hunting as members of private packs used their military blazer buttons.
I'll go through my hunt button books later to find military hunt buttons.
I think you may be right on some of the blazer buttons, however hunts usually wore there own.. I do not know of a definitive list but there were definitely some Regiments (and Corps) with their own hunt. I have attached a photo of other military hunt buttons - not mine and I cannot remember where I got it from but NB row 4 centre.

I also have somewhere an article from Horse & Hound on hunts and the military although I think was more to do with the tactical training value due to 'reading the ground' and the 'lie of the land'. There is another somewhere on the Warwicks Regt Hunt. I shall keep looking.

As you would expect the Yeomanry did not have Regimental Hunts as they would be part of the local hunting community - which was large and there were many hunts in close proximity. There are a couple of photos somewhere of some Northumberland Hussars officers hunting in Mesopotamia.

I really should file my notes and articles better! I may have to wait until I next visit Nottingham to get my Baily's.

Chris

Anyone got examples of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers military hunt buttons? Don't recall seeing one.

Here it is.
It is identical to Mrs. Squire's 74-24. Her 74-23 has R over 102 over D.
