Default Cameronians Collar Badge help

I got this one today. Roughly an inch across, according to Churchill's book could possibly be a 5th Battalion Collar.

Has anyone got any info on what this could be and when worn?

Thanks in advance, Bill

Depending upon its quality (i.e. if it’s genuine) it appears to be an Adjutants cap badge for wear when ‘at Orderly Room’, when the dress was frock coat or patrol jacket and forage cap. I believe he was the only officer required to have that dress apart from the CO. In the badge array it is No3.

But not inw/m rather than silver, surely, the badge shown appears to be of w/m?

The Adjy would have two caps with different badges?
I'm not challenging what you say, but that's interesting.
Does "at Orderly Room" simply mean as "Orderly Officer"?

(My only real experience of Orderly Officers is having to stamp and shout at them of an evening's COS / BOC joyful activities, both of us in No. 2's (sorry, should've said he'd be in OSD) unless he was showing off to some fawning bint from Cambridge that he'd lured to the the Mess in which case he was in Blues).

Orderly Room is the setting when the "guilty bastard" is wheeled in front of the CO on a charge.

The bugle is facing the wrong way for a cap badge. It’s also clearly not an officer’s badge but is die stamped WM.

Yes, guilty as charged before you ever got flailing windmill armed, superfast pigeon stepped, hat and belt off zoomed in tapping the boards to face the music, I never got past OC's, never did (got caught for) anything heinous enough to warrant CO's.

I never noticed the direction of the bugle - obviously not the pagri badge and not the Birmingham Mint badge but a form of collar, legit or not.

I agree it doesn’t look very good quality and as mentioned the bugles the wrong way around if it’s not reversed. At orderly room meant when dealing with a spate of CO’s orders. Yes the regiment’s dressed as Lowland Scots had a period when their adjutants all had to have forage caps with smaller sized badges, plus glengarry with the full size. Worn depending on the order of dress as mentioned.

Judging by the size of the lugs relative to the badge, it appears too small to be any type of cap badge. Certainly not an officer badge as mentioned, and possibly one of a facing pair with that wrong way horn? Those lugs look very old however.

Thanks for your replies so far.

The badge is wm not silvered and id di-stamped. I'll take a pic next to a normal sized badge for comparison.

The badge is well made, just like the full sized versions I have and appears to have a bit of age to it. I also didn't notice the bugle facing the other way so possibly one of a pair.

Regards, Bill
