A grouping of badges tells a story, attribution can make research of that story possible, the story is lost when broken up. I appreciate some collectors do not worry about the story, and it is a matter of personal preference.
No offence intended to anyone.

The story is not always lost.

No, not always - and we have to be realists ... but each piece contributes to the whole and, often produces synergy. As a researcher you will no doubt agree each piece of a jigsaw helps add to the picture.

I think this is what I am most curious about. I am hoping they stayed together as a lot.

Well, that's true but the reality is is that most sellers of any items chase the highest price. There is so much fiction and disinformation told today in almost everything it's difficult and in some cases probably impossible to separate what's true and what's false. I agree that together like this it is easier to corroborate the authenticity of the items and who they belonged to and to research the original owner. I don't condone any collections being split up but I would think the vast majority at some stage are.

Default The items are in a good home

I am honoured to be the current custodian of the lot in question.
My intention is to keep the lot together.
I will however look at selling similar items in my possession to part fund this purchase.
Im away for 2 weeks from today and not in a position to take photos etc of the items.
Regards
Jon
PS. Id like to that the family and Will for the opportunity to own these items.

Jon - they could not have found a better home - absolutely brilliant that it is all kept together and that you plan to keep it that way.
Totally agree ... all credit to the sellers and William.
