Two Brothers both Officers portrait miniatures reunited !

Hi all,
I bought the first portrait miniature early last year.Whilst
Scrolling on the Bay I spotted another portrait that looked very similar to my own, upon looking at the listing they are brothers, sorted a deal out and received today !!
Back together !
Hope you all like, feel free to add any info anyone has regarding the officers always nice to hear.

Two splendid finds and wonderful to see.

However, has any body else noticed how the locket of the elder sibling's rank has been engraved?

Unless Leiut was an ancient way of abbreviating Lieutenant, surely this was poor workmanship, but certainly does not detract from the quality of the two items.

Many people today who cannot spell simple words but yes the engraver was at fault. There are some tattoo and cake decoration errors that are far worse!

Royal Engineers.The undermentioned Gentlemen Cadets to be Lieutenants with temporary rank.
Richard Henry Beaumont Beaumont. Dated 22nd June 1858.

The presentation inscription reads: 'Presented To Gentleman Cadet Richard H.B. Beaumont On Obtaining His Commission From The Royal Military Academy June 1858, For His Exemplary Conduct While At The Institution'

Richard Henry Beaumont was promoted to Captain on 19 June 1872. The following year he commanded the 28th Company of Royal Engineers, Aldershot and was promoted to Major in December 1875. In 1880 he was in command of the 36th Company Royal Engineers at Chatham and became honorary Lieutenant Colonel on 1 July 1881. He retired in 1882 and died in 1884

Was there any issue from the latter’s marriage? It seems it might perhaps be camouflage for his true proclivities, although that didn’t stop many such men from becoming fathers. They are superb miniature portraits I agree. It’s wonderful that you kept them together. Kudos to you.
