Assistance required please for a eulogy
Afternoon Chaps,
A neighbour of mine recently passed and I have been asked if I can put a few words together on his military service. I have had a look at the various items I own of his, and of the stories we shared, BUT, I would like to add a little more meat to the bones. His name is David Gross. - He was in the Air Cadets pre War and I believe joined the RAF (But they had ceased recruiting for pilots??) - Was also in the Home Guard before joining the RASC - He was posted to Japan as part of the army of occupation until 1946. I have his British Forces Commonwealth, UJ and 2nd Infantry Division insignia - He served as an officer in the Royal Artillery and / OR Royal Engineers (RE Pattern Grenade and buttons) along with RA Cloth shoulder titles, buttons, RA Arm canon badge (I remember he told me he had his service dress for many years). - He served as a Territorial Major in the Hampshires Sorry not a lot to go on, but worth a try. |
