Hi Paul, greatcoat straps worn pre WW1 circa 1902-14. I am away abroad so nonevof my reference works to hand to tell me which Arm the white piping denotes. I am sure someone will fill in this detail.

Army Ordnance Corps had red inner braiding and white outer piping but I'm not sure how "maroon" the red was.
Infantry red, cavalry yellow, Roal Artillery red inner blue outer piping. I'm trying to identify blue inner red outer piping - Royal Engineers? |

Paul,
Now back home. As Leigh said I can confirm AOC greatcoat straps. Leigh your strap is indeed Royal Engineers Source British Uniforms and equipment of the Great War by John Bodsworth page 235 If they are for sale I am interested. Regards Mark |

Thanks for that, I'm afraid I've only just got the RE strap to add to my collection (not that I have any others as yet).
