Hi Chris,
This was the scarce "large" version Essex Yeomanry badge. There are a few about in advanced collections but very hard to find.
So, good luck to whoever won it as I have only seen "3 In the flesh" in over 30 years of collecting.
Regards
Colin

Default Essex Yeo

Luck is the name of the game. I found my copy very many years ago on a well known dealer's card at Charing Cross market, when it was in the basement- £8

I must make sure my wife knows not to give it away when I pop my clogs!

Stephen.

Not sure which sale you refer to Chris, but for comparison, I know of two large Essex Yeo badges that went for serious prices in previous years...

Jan 2006 £385 - through Bosley's auction house
Feb 2011 £160 Ebay - not sure who seller was.

Cheers and apologies for late response; hope it's useful.

William
