Default MONTGOMERYSHIRE cloth title

In terms of construction this title appears to match some WWII and !950's titles I own, so it cant be Montgomeryshire yeomanry.

I thought maybe 50's home guard, or ambulance, police...but no real idea.

I cannot find other examples in any searches.

Hi Jerry

My first thought was Civil Defence, but doubtless others can confirm/deny that.

I suggest Civil Defence post war. Worn on breast pocket below the CD badge.
Useful information here https://www.ww2civildefence.co.uk/ci...-insignia.html

CD was my first thought as well. HG in the 50s would be red with white letters.

Terry, I see a lot of these Essex titles recently, funny the home guard title looks typical good quality but the Essex titles look poorly made. Are these being faked now?

Jerry,

I don't know if the second phase county titles are being faked. The appearance of difference in quality may be the construction. While the HG title is embroidered, the county title is made on PVC - "...appears to be made of some kind of plush material applied to the backing.".

Hope this helps,

Terry

Terry, it is only recently that I saw quite a number of these come onto the market, they all look this same lesser quality, I am not saying they are wrong, just different in construction.

I shall have to source some at some stage.
