Default What is this RAF button ? Is it Royal Air Force ??

Can someone tell me when this was worn if its Royal Air Force ??

I believe these were worn on overalls by mechanics and fitters, 1918 onwards.

I stand corrected, but I was under the impression these were worn by staff at the Royal Aircraft Factories and was not Royal Air Force.

Sorry, my first post was misleading, these buttons were worn up to 1918 when the Royal Aircraft Factories became the Royal Aircraft Establishment.

The name Royal Aircraft Factory was used from 1912 until 1918 only.

This button is also known to collectors as civilian drivers RAF 1918-c.1950.

I anyone able to supply proof of either name?
