i knew the badges were rather rare as i have never seen any or even any (dare i say it reproduction) badges, but i didn't think that they would cost that much.

134 Inf Bde was the senior Brigade of 45 Inf Div throughout the War. 4 Devons served in this Brigade from Sep 39 - May 40 and then from Nov 43 to Mar 44. One Inf AoS strip will have been worn. In the interval it served in 2 Gibraltar Bde from Apr 41 to Apr 43. It also served in 164 Inf Bde, 55 (West Lancs) Inf Div Sep 44 to May 45 and finally in 183 Inf Bde, 61 Inf Div from May to Aug 45.

Which version - the version worn in Gibraltar (made by the unit tailor?) or the post-1943 Ordnance issue printed sign?

The printed sign, depending on how neatly the borders were folded, would have appeared to have been about 38mm wide x 52mm high. I have never seen an EonF version of this flash.

Very interesting thread.

This is a postwar picture in the IWM collection which seems to show the Officer at the front wearing this badge?

http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205198174

And is there any evidence that the 4th Devons ever wore the Gibraltar Garrison cloth badge?

it definatley looks like the badge in question, i have not seen any other badge being worn by the 4th in Gibraltar, the original photo came from an album that was lent to me, but that was the only picture showing any badges apart from rank.
