Chaps, just to continue this really interesting thread, I picked these wings up at Newark last Sunday for a couple of quid. They have no merrowed edge and appear to be on the 'stone' or desert type backing. The rear has a kind of sticky cling film covering, similar to those described in post #4. There is a yellow paper label behind the clear film on the rear.

If anyone has any clue what they are, I'd be interested. Fairly happy they are British issue. Royal Marines?
