Default RAFX2 for comparison

Good evening guys this is my first post in this part of the forum.First can i say over the years i have picked up lots of these and always put them back down because i use the one on the side cap as an original.
My first observation is that most of them are just not like the one on the side cap they all seam to be to thin and very flat .
Is the second one a restrike ???
regards charlie

I respect your reply, however imo i would always go for the one on the cap.Look at the crown its twice the hight and better struck and the albatross much better .

Both look OK to me too.
While I have seen repros of these(virtually everything is copied nowadays, rare & common badges, alike) these are fairly common in this sidecap form with many different manufacturers & fixings types. Also made in a few different countries of the Empire/Commonwealth. That slightly off-set Tail & Crown alignment is the most common form for the back-plate used in & around the 2nd WW period. The 'notched' tail on the Eagle is also indicative of the period & is seen on some of the varieties used as 'Pathfinders' also.
Hope this helps ??
Cheers !
Steve
