new and would like help to id
my wife took a shine to an old toffee tin in Ramsgate today and brought it, upon getting home it had a pair of ID Tags in fibre card like material one red and one green on old twine with two small rusty keys! 14813622 HENDERSON and two square shoulder flashes showing a white knight on a white horse, shielded and lance pointed forward on a red background, dark green lower quarter with red oblong bottom right.

White knight
The white knight on the horse sounds like 8th Army Corps. Not sure about the green lower quarter though.

Sounds a little like a Libyan Armoured unit post WW2. But knight does not have a lance?
See next post. Tim

I think the Army Number is in the WW2 Pioneer Corps block. So could the sign consist of a Pioneer Corps red/green Arm of Service strip stitched below a VIII Corps sign?

Rick, if it's any help re the ID tags, Red for records, Green for grave.
In other words had the wearer been KIA the red tag would be removed from the body and sent to whoever was responsible for collating these items and the green tag would have stayed on the body at burial. Ritchie. |
