What are these patches?
Hello,
I've seen these online but I have no idea what unit they belonged to, if any at all. All help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers. |

There is a D Troop, No.3 Commando Badge, WW2, original in Robin's latest auction - link here: https://www.mcgregor.uk.net/product/...-no-4963-sf9a/

Genuine No.3 Commando, D Troop examples are extremely scarce and a genuine example via a dealer or auction would be expected to cost in the thousands. Such prices are a reality in Commando and SF insignia collecting for rarer items.
If you are considering collecting Special Forces insignia judging by this and your two other threads I would strongly urge buying the right books first as fakes are on another level in terms of their proliferation and in some cases quality. |

So you do not recommend books or researching, noted.

My advice if you are thinking if collecting SF items then don't. It is a minefield and so widely faked that you will simply spend a lot of money on things that don't hold their worth. Go for a nice Corps or Line Regiments instead and save yourself the disappointment. LRDG, PPA, WW2 SAS were tiny units and the number of badges made for them is the same so you won't find any sleepers out there.
