Unusual Middlesex VTC badges
I have about a dozen photos of members of the Middlesex VTC /Volunteer Force. Two show bi-coloured diamond patches being worn on the upper right sleeve.
The first photo (and detail) presumably dates from after August 1918, when the VF were permitted to wear the badge of the county regiment, shows several members still wearing the old grey-green VTC uniform, one with a coloured patch. The second photo (and deatil) shows a VTC group all of whom wear a different coloured patch. Because the patches were not universally worn by the Middlesex VTC I guess they were to distinguish companies of a particular battalion? S |

Don't know if this will work, but hopefully you should find two attachments relating to the Middlesex Volunteer Regiment, showing the units as they were before becoming the Volunteer Battalions of the Middlesex Regiment in 1918.

Thank you for the information Graham, it's a starting point, unfortunately neither photo gives any clue as to where they were taken. I'm hoping further examples turn up.
All best Steve H |
