Default help with this colour patch and band on hat

Hi all
again I request your wisdom , can some one tell what is this colour patch and i have noticed on different nurses hats different coloured bands do they indicate what state they were from?

An Australian Womens Army Service (AWAS) member allotted to a unit of the Australian Army Ordnance Corps (AAOC) 1945-49 or thereabouts.

Thanks Keith but can you tell me how many different hat bands there are and where could I find info on what the units there are the band on this hat plus a nurse ,Red Cross ,VAD what there bands are .

Hi Rob,

I'm not aware that there were different coloured hat bands, at least not officially. Are the colours not just manufacturers variations of khaki?

VADs probably wore a different colour band on their blue hats, I can't remember now.

Keith I thought the Red Cross,Nurse and VAD had there own coloured bands so the Khaki was a standard band used like the pugaree I guess?

Will have a look and see what I can find. An old VAD veteran gave me her uniform and insignia years ago and I think there might be a hat band included.
