Default GORKHA BOYS COMPANY

Here is the latest addition to my Military Boys collection.
It is a GORKHA BOYS COMPANY cast badge. I have been after one of these for a while.

Silly question Jerry but who wore it, is Indian or Nepalese, or is it an early British badge
Cheers

Late 40's early 50's and Indian - The UK's Gurkha Boys Company - was from 1948 > 1968 . I think there's still a Gorkha Boys Company to this day.

As Tim said British Gurkha Boys company was disbanded 1968, nothing replaced it. Sadly the sons of British Gurkhas born outside Nepal are ineligible to join the Gurkhas but can join other regiments (unless things have recently changed).
I was chatting with a couple at Swanton Morley as cooks with the donkey Wallopers last time I was there. They were disappointed they couldn't follow their fathers.

I have a feeling that the Indian equivalent was also disbanded.

Hi Steve , I thought they'd disbanded as well - but I found a current facebook page for them - I don't know whether they disbanded and reformed it but they are very much "alive today" ! Tim
