Default Australian Brass Numerals 1912 - 1918

Hi,

Here are some of my brass numerals, which are made by Stokes.

All are approximately between 19mm - 20mm in height.

I was just wondering if anyone else on the forum collects these brass numerals and would like to show some pictures of what they have.

Whether you have 1 or more then 10 numerals to show, please put them up, so we can all appreciate looking at them.

Cheers,

Invest

Hi,
I have had this for many years but don't know anything about it. found it when clearing my Nan's house hear in Vic in the 1970's. Nickel plated over copper/brass?, no markings. maybe someone can ID it

Hi Jim,

I've asked a friend to see if he might be able to identify your numeral and find out from what period it originates.

My friends reply below.

"Looks to be a good quality, die cast numeral. Military or Police (more likely Police).
I couldn't see the lugs properly so I'm not sure if it is from a commonwealth country.
As to age, if it was British Commonwealth, definitely post 1881, but other than that - anyone’s guess."

Cheers,

Hi,

Here are a few more of my brass numerals, which have no manufacturers name.

All are approximately between 19mm - 20mm in height.

It would be great to see some pictures of other brass numerals, if forum members would like to share them.

Cheers,

Very nice to see. If you ever find a spare 32 I will pay top dollar: I have a picture of my father wearing it in his champion drill team in 1918. Never seen the numeral, worn in Sydney's inner west.

Hi Jason
I've had a quick look at the collection and can only find these. I'm sure I have more somewhere.

Hello Kingsley,
I'll continue to keep a lookout for numeral 32 for you, unfortunately I don't have a spare at the present moment. However, I fully understand how important it is to have a memento of what your father wore. I myself am always on the lookout for numeral 72, as my grandfather wore one while a Senior Cadet with the Western Districts Regiment in country Victoria. The numerals I have posted up on the forum are from my core collection. I do have spares of some other numerals, and I'm always happy to discuss this with other like minded collectors via PM's.
Cheers,
Jason

Hello BC,
Many thanks for posting some of your numeral collection for us to look at.
I also appreciate seeing the Officers collar for the 55th "Collingwood" Infantry, very nice.
Cheers,
Jason

thanks Jason
hat and collar badges are my main interest and never really took much interest in the numerals until recently.
I have the hat badge also for the 55 Collingwood and 2 left collars. so if anyone has a spare right officers collar im interested.
btw im sorry the pics are on there sides. I loaded them from a ipad and it didn't mater how I tried, they wouldn't remain upright???
cheers
bc
