Its in VGC considering its age..... must have been looked after. They are worth between £250 and £300 on this side of the pond.

Well, I think yours is OK, but to add my twopenneth, I must say that twenty odd years ago when I specialised in Imperial Yeomanry of the Boer War period, you saw these rosettes and badges only very rarely.
Now of course, they have joined that sad list of badges and accoutrements that have been reproduced, and there is a company advertising these on eBay. The problem isnt with the new ones but those that have been artificially or chemically aged to look like century old grossgrain ribbon, which these rosettes were originally made from, which is fine as replacements for worn or badly frayed rosettes, but the problems lies with those ever-fertile minds whose interest is merely short term monetary gain! Indeed, at an arms fair in Derbyshire 2002 I was offered a 21st Battalion (SS with crown) Sharp Shooters "aged" brass badge by a dodgy dealer from Birmingham, so I know these have been re-struck. Add one of these to an "aged" rosette or indeed a common, though dulled brass numeral and POW feathers collar dog, and you have a "very rare" badge, (which all the originals were in essence) so after a few years, and with few examples to compare who could argue; so I say beware of rare I.Y. badges on rosettes being offered more frequently than has been previously experienced! |

Yes, I have known the dealer for 20 years or more. Way, way too expensive like all his stuff, but he knows his badges so you wont get a restrike.
