I have been told that the 1906 cap badge was some times worn with a purple rosette behind it. While I have not seen the rosette I strongly suspect it is correct. Does any one have a photo of this being worn behind the cap badge?

hi all
i thought it was interesting to note that the badge on the cap looks to be a collar badge. here are another couple of nice items. the first being a white metal hat badge. a little tarnished but a solid badge and beautiful strike. and a super rare unofficial ww1 Australian wireless corps enameled badge. bc |

Magnificent B.C. I will have to cross Bass Strait and come and look at this museum. Can you tell me the colour of the gorgets behind the collar badges on that uniform, are they maroon or purple?
All in all an impressive display. Phil. |

hi phil
its only a small museum but full of interesting sig stuff. i only took pics of items of badge related interest however there are some magnificent medal groups and a lot of kit from all ages. there is a fantastic MC, DCM, MM+bar to a chap who served 2 wars. next time im in Melbourne and have time im going to call ahead to see if i can get a look at the items not displayed. will let you all know how i go. the gorgets are purple and look to have pink? but i would say at some stage red braid? its like a royal purple. very nice bc |

Ok BC, I live in Queenstown, it's on the West Coast. A mining town for well over a hundred years, however sadly the mine has now closed due to three accidental deaths within one month. The mine has closed and so has the town (almost). The mine is due to reopen late next year. I worked there for 50 years, now retired, and loving it. As this is a badge forum, I have posted a Mt Lyell badge, Mt Lyell would have supported the war effort, they produced copper for over 100 years. This is the winder headframe, I drove this winder for 35 years.
Regards Phil. |
