Default Unknown uniform, c1910

My great grandfather. Know nothing about him apart from this photo! Might be wearing spurs? Any suggestions welcomed. Many thanks.

Welcome to the Forum rodpd. Your account is active and open for posts.
The soldier in the image is Machine Gun Corps, as seen in the cap badge and the MG qualification badge on the sleeve above the lance corporal rank.

As Bill says he’s in the Machine Gun Corps, have you a name and any details as possible to locate some records for him. Also showing a rank stripe of Lance Corporal and what I can make out possibly a good conduct chevron just showing on his bottom left cuff ?

The picture must be after 1915, when the Machine Gun Corps was formed.

Default Thanks for your help

Hi Bill, Gerard, Dave
Thanks a lot for your speedy replies. Hadn't expected such promptness! Will investigate him further. Would there be a special source for machine gunners, do you know? When I said he was my great grandfather, I made a mistake. That's what I'd told my sons. He was actually my grandfather. For some reason, my father had nil contact with his family. He died 50 years ago and spoke very little about his youth, so it's a real challenge to piece together what's been lost in the mists of time. Thanks again for all you help. Best wishes -- Rod
