10 Jat shoulder title
Good day folks
This item is on eBay and described as a shoulder title/slide for the 10th Jats. Looks a bit WW2 to me. Could it be 10 Baluch? Although the X does not look like a Baluch X. Any thoughts? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182285187003?ul_noapp=true Many thanks James |

I agree, James. The slip-on shoulder titles may have been used occasionally in WWI as an economy measure - I've found only one reference to such - but were largely develpoed with the advent of 'battle dress' in the 1930s. The 10th JATS bore that title from 1903 to 1922, at a time when IA units seem to have used almost exclusively brass shoulder titles, while the 10th BALUCH were so called from 1922 to Partition, so I'd agree that these are from the latter regiment.
My tuppence worth. |
