Default Unknown Badge - Help please

Can anybody help me identify on of three identical buttons that we believe belonged to my Great Grandfather and are a complete mystery. We were always told that they were from his livery when he worked for Duke of Rutland but the Duke says that it is not his livery. A cousin says that it was the Earle of Westmorland but The Earle says it is not his livery.

There is a makers mark of "Sherlock & Co" on the reverse. Everything I find on them says that they made military buttons hence this leads me to you.

I do not have a website to be able to post a link.

The badge is of a large bird standing on top of what appears to be a body in an open 'coffin' - there is an image of a head at one of of the 'coffin', the bird is looking angrily at it, the bird is considerably larger than the 'coffin'.
This 'coffin' sits on top of something that might be a cap or crown, the base of which looks like wavy ribbon with large standing crosses on it.

I REALLY would be incredibly grateful if someone is able to identify this or send me a link to someone who might.

Thank you

Possibly from the arms of the Earl of Derby?

A few variations, the eagle and child atop a Ducal cap.
