Barnard Castle Militia
Spent a few days in Barnard Castle ( having my eyes tested obviously), I was interested to see the entrance to the old Militia Barracks still standing although the actual barracks themselves have been redeveloped.
Also interesting to see the WW1 war memorial in the grounds of The Bowes Museum referring to The Barnard Castle Militia. ( There is one antique shop in the town run by a former member of the Royal Irish Rangers who has some Militaria, he tells me he is moving to a new shop soon which is bigger and will allow him to display more of his stock) P.
