259 (COMCAN) Signal Squadron
I got this sign many years ago from a gentleman who claimed to have been in the unit and I have no reason to doubt him. He claimed there was only one lot of patches made in Cyprus and only worn for a very short period before amalgamation with No 12 Signal unit (RAF) to form the Cyprus Communications Unit (CCU). Any thoughts or opinions welcome.

It is a genuine patch. The wife of Major A G Harfield BEM of Headdress Badges and Embellishments of the Royal Corps of Signals fame designed the device of Aphrodite rising from the blue Mediterranean.

Does anyone have any dates for this patch?
Certainly wasn't in use 83-86 when I was with the sqn. And more importantly - where can I get one? TIA Andy C

I was in 259 in 1995-6 and the patches were not in use until a few years after that. i think that they were in use circa 2000. They were pretty awful in colour and design. As stated they were only in use for a short period before the Squadron was disbanded and the role was civilianised. They do pop up on ebay.

IU have this one, worn around 2000 and not for long.

I picked one up via a colleague in the Royal Signals serving in MOD around 2000, and still have it.
