Recce Corps cap badge types - 1948

I've always wondered why a such a shortlived unit had more than 20 significantly different cap badges and around a dozen shoulder titles. Can't think of another unit with similar numbers of variations.

This article does not say whether the white rose was cut into the spear and lightning and soldered or just soldered onto the spear and lightning.

I have always thought that the rose should be spliced in, am I wrong?

I always prefer the cut in. The reason is that these were made by the regiment modifying the issued recce with an additional rose. It's always been my thought that they used a KOYLI cap badge as the donor for the rose hence the need for the cut-in method rather than overly it.

The overlaid ones might be right as well but have been so widely faked I would find it much harder to spot the old copies especially if a genuine recce badge was used,

Agreed, the soldered on are far easier to fake.
