RCAF Chaplain Cap Insignia for Review

I'm considering purchasing this insignia, but, due to the steep price and my inability (so far) to come to a definitive conclusion by searching the forum and digging up what I can elsewhere online, I'd appreciate some input. I've seen two styles of wings on WWII-period RCAF chaplain cap badges - the one shown here, and one where the "C" does not overlap, but rather appears in a straight "RCAF" (such as this example HERE). Is there a difference (ie. issue time period) between the two? As well, the example I'm looking at, at least in my mind, shows some crude construction to the bullion wire of the crown insignia that I find concerning. What it does have going for it is patina and material wear that I would consider age-appropriate throughout, especially to the back with the exposed buckram consistent with other examples I have found online. The bronze prongs also show verdigris that must necessitate some age? In any case, any opinions are much appreciated. Thank you.

I think the crown and backing used to be something else and the original design below the crown has been unpicked and removed and the central badge, which may be original (no expert on Air related badges) added.

Simon has the explanation. I have a similar badge on which you can see the shadow of the eagle. As to dating the cypher RCAF is earlier than the straight line RCAF.
