Default 17th/21st Lancers hallmarked silver 1975 with common flaws

I am a Jack of all trades and master of none when it comes to militaria as I keep what I like from badges to bayonets.
I am often at a loss when it comes to identifying 100% whether a badge is a period piece or a restrike/copy. When I saw a silver hallmarked badge on Ebay to the 17th/21st it raised more questions for me. The badge has the Edinburgh hallmark for 1975, it has the winking eye and the flaw across the skull. I am guessing it was commissioned by an officer, for me it raises the question if this was acceptable for wearing how does this effect the other ranks badges with the same flaws.
Were other ranks badges with these flaws worn by servicemen?
I bought one some time ago that appears to be silver plated I was going to throw it in my junk box now I am not sure.
Ebay listing 174378216605 refers.

....known "Gordon Brindley". A 1975 silver repro of the "old" Firmin Motto is not worth that money. (Unless is comes with provenance :- Named Soldier etc etc)

A 1970s FIRMIN made solid silver motto would look like this (I have yet to see one) :-

AA (Slider: FIRMIN. LONDON)
NSN 8455-99-973-9382 Ptn No:18552
* Under the slider in the lower scroll you will see "F&S" embossed. This will be the die (male) that made the hallmarked silver officers cap motto.
