King's Own Borderers 1881-1887
Should this badge be two colours or does it require a clean?

Marc,
If you start with the second part of the question it may well answer the first part. A gentle clean will reveal a lovely badge. Eddie |

Never seen or heard of a two coloured badge, I think it is losing its silvering and the brass base metal shines through.
Interested in the 1805-1887 date, were they in use that early? Rgds, Thomas. |

Marc,
The badge appears to be similar to Bloomer "Badges of the Highland and Lowland Regiments" page 25 ( left hand centre badge ) but which does not have the voiding behind the motto which yours does and which is described as " Kings Own Borderers, Officers glengarry badge, silver, QVC 1881-1887. I would be tempted to give it a very ( very ) gentle clean. Peter
