The wings: press studs were fitted not as part of some dress regulation, but at the wearer's whim to enable the wings to be removed from his shirt when the latter went into the dhobi. Wings sewn onto the shirt soon became degraded by the washing process, particularly out in the so-called developing world! But many ignored this and had their wings stitched directly onto the Shirt KF or whatever.

The fat rigging lines and over size basket would concern me and make me doubt the wings being original.

...and the text font on the Parachute is wrong, it is made from artificial man made fibres, and a final clue it looks like it was made yesterday

The wings could be theatre made, but i am not keen on the titles.
I would be interested in the wings if you decide to move them on.

The wings are no good as mentioned above...A fairly common reproduction backed on some military looking material to fool the untrained eye.

Well, my untrained eye would still buy it :-D Many original patches were made in India and in theatre. It is far better made than most of the ones currently made in India. Do you have any info or pics on this type of copy ?? it would be good to see so that i can add it to my references

I'd agree on the titles. Parachute is a familiar repro, Guards title has uneven lettering. As for the wings, id be happy with them, might be foreign, but to me, genuine.

The Parachute title is a well knwon fake indeed.

I don't know what to make of the wings, I haven't seen this type before. They have some details which remind me of Indian made wings, like the horizontal stitch between the bottom of the canopy where the shroud lines are attached, but as a whole I do not believe they are Indian manufacture.
For reference, I'd like to have them, if they were cheap.

Thanks for the interest.No surprise on the parachute title.The wings i feel are good. i am no expert and i have never held a known original but these seem right to me .If they are repro then they are expertly done not sure if it would even be worth the effort.They are very similar to Belgian .Does anyone know if the backing is from British clothing?

Please see attached;

http://www.legalindia.in/territorial...act-1948part-5

and scroll down to the kit list for TA India c 1948. You'll see the exact terminology - TROUSERS DRILL O.G.

as on the wings backing.
