Rhodesian African rifles
Gentlemen
A question about this badge I am curious as to the manufacturer I wonder if this piece was made by mfg Reuteler? The other types I have of this are all made by Firmin Kind regards Chay |

I don’t think it’s a Reuteler made example as the it appears to be cast and theirs were struck also Reuteler RAR badges have a hollow image of the raised image on the front.

There are numerous makers of RAR badges and a lot of different patterns show up.

Rhodesian African Rifles
Hi Tweed,
I have 2 of the Mathews unmarked OR cap badges as well as a marked silver one. I will attach some pics. Reuteler did manufacture RAR silver collars with various obverses, not sure about the cap badges though. One thing I have found is that the font on the Rhodesian made cap badges differs to the Firmin ones. Also if you look carefully at the "stitching" of the shield, you will notice that the Firmin cap badge has more stitches than the locally made ones. Thank you Alex and Dave
I will keep an eye for more and my German collector will be pleased with the unmarked variant so far he has not done too bad with the fakes but he really should join the forum so he can learn faster . |
