Dave Cutforth
Andy Plewa has been in touch with me today to give me the terrible news that Dave Cutforth (Davec2) has sadly passed away.
This is incredibly sad, not only was Dave was highly respected for his badge repair skills but as a kind human being too. I'm sure that forum members thoughts will be with Dave's widow Kath and his family. Andy is aware that several collectors have recently sent badges to Dave to be repaired. He respectfully asks that people do not contact Dave's family about any badge repairs as understandably they have other matters to deal with but Andy has promised to ensure that any badges sent to Dave are returned to their owners as soon as he can. As Andy is not contactable through the forum, if any members would like to pm me details of any badges they sent to Dave for repair, I will ensure that those messages are passed to Andy. A very sad day for the world of badge collecting and the badge forum. Ivan. |

Oh no, I can't believe it. I've stayed in touch with Dave over the last few weeks and it was always lovely getting emails from him. He's always looked out for me. God I'm just completely heartbroken. Condolences to Kath and his family they must be devastated.

Very very sad news... I am ever grateful to Dave for his skills and he is a big loss to the badge collecting community. This piece below is Dave ...... he fixed a badly broken LYC...... and then out of the blue one day... he sent me a QVC to go above it. Thank you Dave and RIP.

Very sad news. I sent Dave an email a few days ago to see how he was doing as I knew he was having a rough time, my father having had similar heart problems in his last years. I was starting to wonder over his non reply.
In the past I suggested it was time to stop loading himself with badge repairs but he took pleasure I think in using his skill. Although I never met him he seemed a principled, loyal man. God bless him, Kath and his family. Regards, Paul. |

Vey sad news indeed. Dave was one on his own , a real craftsman whose work many forum members have benefitted from. I had the pleasure of meeting Dave (and Kath) quite a number of times and even had the pleasure of visiting them at home where I had the chance to visit the "shed of alchemy". He could be a stubborn old bugger - the world of Dave was black and white - definitely no shades of grey but he was a man of principle and a loyal friend . The world will be a worse place for his passing
RIP mate, Kath my thoughts are with you and the family at this sad time Paul L |

RIP Dave Cutforth
As an infrequent visitor to the Forum I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. I can add little to what has already been said about him and his contributions here, save to say that he will be very much missed in the badge collecting community of which he had become a part. My sincere condolences to his wife, Kath, and his family, at what will undoubtedly be a difficult time for them. With sympathy - Martin

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Dave.
I can't claim to have known him well but we had spoken on a number of occasions. He always struck me as a true gentleman and the sort of chap that just makes the world (and this forum) a better place. A great loss indeed. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family and all those who knew him well. Respectfully, Roy.
