D.S.C. "Auxilio Diving"
Hi,
Can anyone help me with this badge??? It is made from white metal has two lugs on the back and is marked on the top - D.S.C. with the motto - "Auxilio Divino" - on the bottom. The badge measures 3.5 cm long by 2.5 cms wide - not sure if this is a collar badge or cap badge? Anyone any suggestions? Cheers Sean. Last edited by Col Blacker; 04-05-08 at 02:49 PM. |

This appears to me to be the coat of arms of the County of Devon. Auxilio Divino (not Auxilio Diving) is the county's motto, the real clue being the "DSC", which probably signifies something like “Devonport & Saltash Corporation”. Did they have trams in Saltash?

I have been looking for information on Plymouth sailing clubs, thinking, perhaps of "Devonport Sailing Club", but could find no evidence of such an organisation. The badge looks modern, whereas if it had been of Victorian appearance one might have been thinking in terms of one of the local artillery volunteer units (although I think they normally wore RA badges). The clue has got to be Devon.

Hi John, I think you may be right as this came in a lot with a couple of other police and military badges - I'll look in this direction and see what turns up. Thank-you Sean |
