Default Help Needed on Polish Badges

A friend of mine (he is Polish by birth) here at Airbus is starting to get interested in Polish badges - no surpise there as he is always looking at various badges on this forum and is starting to get the 'bug'.
He is after a book on Polish badges - he hasn't started to focus yet on a specific area or era but can't find anything here (in Germany or back in Poland). Does anyone know of any good books that will get going ion the right direction?
Any help would be appreciated. David

If your friend is interested in modern Polish badges then I recommend:ODZNAKI WOJSKA POLSKIEGO 1989-2002 Katalog Zbioru Falerystycznego. 304 pages and all badges in colour - superb book. Agencja Wydawnicza CB Andrezej Zasieczny. ISBN 83-7339-012-X. All in Polish. Also there is OZNAKI ROZPOZNAWCZE WOJSK LADOWYCH (Polish Army Shoulder Emblems) by Islam Musa Czachorowski in both English and Polish. ISBN 83-909934 - 3 published 2000 in Warsaw. Also there is ODZNAKI I OZNAKI Ludowego Wojska Polskiego Katalog from the Muzeum SZTUKI MEDALIERSKIEJ WE WROCLAWIU. The last one is from 1945.

Sorry,

I am jumping in on someone elses thread but it follows on a similar line.

My friend (lives in Australia). His dad was one of the first MSO (Displaced Persons) Polish soldiers who served for the British around Hamburg in 1947.

They, the MSO, worked quite often as security guards in the years after the war, not to be confused with the 'new' security guys who currently serve at military establishments since the 1980's.

I am also familiar with the capbadge worn by the MSO guys serving in BAOR in the 1960-80. Their capbadge was distinctly different, being a big round one.

The capbadge worn in the late 40's by these serving guys looks distinctly like a Polish Army cap badge. It was probably the Polish Army badge of the 1940's.

Does anyone have a good photo of the badge or have one for sale?

Thanks
Alan

Alan,
I remember there being a article recently on the MSO in the 'Armourer' magazine, if you e mail them you could get a back issue. www.armourer.co.uk.
