Asisstance needed with identification of Helmetplate.
I would appreciate any opinions on this item which I think might be a Bavarian Helmetplate. Has anyone any idea of its value ? A fifty pence piece is included in the picture to give an idea of size.
Thanks, Peter. |

Hi Peter. Imperial Germany is not my strong point, but this helmet plate looks like Bavarian Infantry, up to 1st WW. As for the value......??????????
Cheers Jo

It looks to me as though there is an identical plate and helmet to this for sale on Saxonia Miltaria's website. www.saxoniamilitaria.com I've attached the picture to assist. It's described as: "BAVARIAN CHEVAULEGER REGIMENT ONE YEAR VOLUNTEER'S OR SENIOR NCO's CAVALRY HELMET". They are asking GBP1800 for it. Your guess is as good as mine as to what the plate on it's own is worth.... Hope this helps! Cheers, Neil |

Thanks Jo and Neil, and I apologise for the delay in replying. Seems you were on track with Bavarian Jo. It does look identical to mine Neil, and thanks for posting the picture. I am not at all familiar with Imperial items, but will follow the link you posted to have a look at some of their items.
Thanks, Peter. |
