Default Formation patch I.D. help?

Very much a long shot I know but it may be that someone on here has the answer. I am not knowledgeable about these things so please excuse any obvious ignorance, but if you don't ask you never know :-)

Accepting the less than ideal photo. This, I am given to understand, is of a motorcyclist on one of the beaches on D-Day. You can see quite a bit of a patch on his arm that appears to be either a light coloured triangle or a partly obscured 'twisted' square with a darker central part. Your informed opinions invited on its identity please.

Possibly 50th Infantry Division ? Red interlocking TT onn a black background. they were one the D Day Assault Divisions so it would make some sense.

I agree it looks more like an armband than a formation sign,

Thanks for the input gents, much appreciated. Another source suggested 56th Infantry Brigade? Any ideas for what units or individuals would have only worn the one armband? Other arm clearly does not have one. Rules out R.S.?
