Default id please

I know this is a NZ badge but i have never seen one with expeditionary force as opposed to onward can some of you kind chaps shed some light on the subject is this an original badge. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, I believe that one was pre 1918 pattern. Issued, until assigned to a regiment. The Onward only pattern was post WW1 more WW2, I think.

Hi Dave

This type of badge was worn by the NZEF 34th reinforcements onwards during WW1. I have only seen them with lugs, rather than a slider. I have my doubts about the authenticity of this badge as the impressions on the back should be much clearer and crisper.

Hi Dave,
I agree with John. It is not likely that this badge was made "in theatre" as a Reinforcement man would have been issued with his Regimental or Corps badge after arrival in Britain before going to the Front.

Well I have seen these cast before. Even in the second world war they were used as a base for the 1st NZ Armored badges (see my album).
