Default Civil Defence Despatch Rider

Please can anyone answer a couple of questions about this badge.

1. Were they made for other counties, and has anyone ever seen a "Devon" version?

2. I'm told it dates from WW2, would you agree?

Rob,

Even after official CD insignia were authorised in 1941 local authorities who ran ARP/CD went on producing their own local badges. I have no doubt this is wartime but was probably unique to the County. If you feel like doing some research the minutes of local authorities often make reference to locally supplied badges as permission to spend the money to buy them had to be obtained first. Good luck
