Default Royal marines Fs cap buttons

Hello! Someone knows what buttons wore RM in their sidecaps? General service or specific Marine buttons? In the pictures I found I can't see...thanks!

The specific buttons would have been the lion above a crown. But it wouldn't surprise me if in war time they GS buttons

Yes...that make sense...in wartimes you could see unofficial practices (before collect UK I collected US IIWW...and in US Army the unofficial practices were really usual!)

The buttons are small RM buttons.

The red badge backing was worn on the Field Service Cap by the Royal Marines, it's shown in wear in the first image in post no. 1.

During WWII it was common for officers to wear mess dress buttons on their blue Field Service Caps instead of the small uniform pattern buttons which were stipulated in the Dress Regulations of 1893, according to an article on Royal Marine Field Service Caps by Alastair Donald.

The red backing may have originated from the red cord boss worn as backing to a silver bugle badge on the blue FSC by RMLI officers (1893 Dress Regulations).
In 1941 an instruction was issued that the red badge backing worn on the khaki FSC was not to be worn on the blue FSC but two weeks later it was authorised for wear by officers of the RM Division.

Yes, the blue FSC (sorry, I should have worded my post better).

That information is from the article by Alastair Donald that I mentioned earlier.
