Red Cross Ambulance Driver(?) - Lambourne

Would appreciate confirmation on this badge, please. I am guessing it is the Red Cross, as it has a cross in the middle, and a Driver due to the wheel. The Lambourne maker mark very probably ties it to WW1.

It is broached; would this have been original, or is it where the lugs would have been?

I wonder if it is a pre WW1 badge ?

The British Red Cross was originally called the "British National Society for Aid to the Sick and Wounded in War" (1870) :

In 1905, 35 years after its formation, the society was reconstituted as the British Red Cross Society, and was granted its first royal charter in 1908 by King Edward VII. His consort, Queen Alexandra, became its president.

I've seen a picture of a blue and white with a red cross cloth version of this badge with BRC at the top and listed as a Dispatch Rider's badge. I suspect it is possibly that, but i would think more likely an ambulance driver. and worn by a VAD.
