Default Scots Guards Badge

I picked this up the other day very cheaply as an unrecognised white metal badge (I thought they were always GM or BM) but when it arrived, it looked silver so I tested it and it was! Does anyone have any idea what it is and if it is not genuine, why would anyone make it out of silver?
Look forward to hearing your suggestions. Denis

It is probably silver plated, not WM. I don't know why this was done however.

Could it be a Service Dress badge perhaps?

It is solid silver and lugs the same, not silver plated - very odd! Denis

Could it be part of a Scots Guards Piper badge? Perhaps a presentation item or one passed down from father to son?

Or from a Piper’s belt plate badge or plaid brooch badge

Thanks for suggestions Tim and Simon. I can see no signs of it being cut out from another badge Tim as edges are perfect. I have found an int-militaria one but no comparison in quality and theirs always seem modern hallmarked but have not found a badgeman one to compare with, mine is very well struck, are the badgeman ones well made? A lot of the badges they list have the same "IM 925 Anchor" hallmark and in the description they state:

International Militaria is not the same badges as produced by Badgeman2000.

Dozens of threads on here about Badgeman2000 fakes and how they would dribble into the market place as originals.

Ah yes, forgot about that dealer. You could be right, a fake.
