Hi,
It looks like the Edinburgh date letter L for 1916/17 I cannot make out the other stamps apart from the maker/Silversmith mark which is HT possibly Henry Tatton.
The plate is the retailers details
Paul

Very nice, full set of tenth cycle Edinburgh hallmarks, for 1916-17, maker, thistle, town mark ( the famous castle) and date letter.

Very disappointing considering it doesn't take much to work out.
Happening a lot of late

Doesn't take much effort to add something on the lines of " Please note I will probably be selling this item in due course " to initial posts seeking information.

At least everyone knows the purpose of the thread.

( Even nicer if items are offered in the Classified section on the Forum before elsewhere)

Can there not be a "time out" option for people who don't follow the rules? Like if you do something like what was done here you cant come on the forum for 6 months or something? Colin

Hi

I seem to have offended some members, so my apologies, but can I add something.

I usually do make reference to an item perhaps being for sale. I wasn't actually from my point looking for information about the badges military history, I was just looking for help with a date letter so I didn't think about mentioning its for sale, again, apologies. This was to make sure any information was correct as I thought one of the points of the forum was to share information and get facts right. My interest is researching items, what happens to them is of no interest to me only that they go and are appreciated by whoever ends up with them. I don't own the badge

I have always thanked members for their input, and I have also when I can tried to help and add to discussion, how much I add, I don't know, but I do make an effort to contribute

I see a post about a fake badge, and knowing the owner, he would not knowingly sell a fake badge, but if you want to provide detail as to why it isn't correct, I will pass the information on to him

Perhaps if everyone reads the posts, and if this is about manners and protocol, then others might reflect also

Thank you

Tara

The fake Westmoreland and Cumberland Yeo badge is more of a badge than it should be, I have an original which I am not willing to show at this time.
Maybe your friend should join the forum and be upfront on asking his questions as I am sure people would still be willing to help and advise which prevents the selling of fakes.

Paul, this, unlike most contributions on the forum, is unhelpful, but thank you
