Blackened RAC Badges
Hello
Could anyone suggest a logical reason why a RAC Cap badge QC anodised would be Blackened? I understand these are only worn during training, not on active service, hence the question. Thank you. Rob |

I do know that some QDG blackened AA badges for Ireland, may be the same?

Worn by Junior leaders in the days when berets were worn on exercise.
Bournemouth School CCF also wore the cap badge in the 1970- early 90s and like all cadets wore berets on exercise for which the badge was often blackened. Last edited by Alan O; 07-10-13 at 01:08 PM. |

The Para Sqn RAC wore the RAC Collar Badge in the beret.

Hi Alan O, would they have worn the tank arm badge? I have an armlet with ACF in red and yellow over a maroon shield with a crown over blue and white divided shield, could that be the Bournemouth school?, thanks in advance Mike

They wore the RAC beret badge on a dark blue beret. It was only the RTR cadets, who were ACF, who wore the tank badge. The school brassard had the Combined Cadet froce should title in red and blue cut into 2 pieces to fit on the arm over a red on blue rectangle with the school name on.

Hi Alan O, sorry just having a senior moment, still after all these years I confuse RAC items with RTR items and vice versa, words like d----head spring to mind, Mike
