Brian,
If anyone has the greatest interest in Mottos here on the Forum it would be Griff without a shadow of doubt! He is trying to indicate that one way of spotting one of the commonest reproductions is that they have and obvious die fault right across the forehead which looks like a hairline crack and for want of a better expression the right eye as viewed appears to be winking (another die fault)!

To be honest from your image I cannot clearly see either, I would not rely on the shape of teeth either and if I were you I'd look closely for these features or lack of them before discarding this particular example!

Andy

Like most recruits who were with me at that time: if we'd seen all the badges before committing ourselves to our regiments of choice we'd all have picked the "Bonehead". The thought of looking so romantic and picking up girls because of it was almost too much to take in and we were jealous as hell of anyone going into the 17/21L.

I'm afraid that wouldn't have helped you Frank. That's a UDR badge.

I did my cake there too.

It certainly would Frank. The only difference being that the UDR had no tanks - much to my regret.

Oh I don't know - better than walking any day of the week. Plus they're very useful if someone is stood on a hill a mile away giving you the bird.

This type is also found in Wm. with loops E/W and Ym. with loops E/W and slider. (with various modifications to the eyes etc) ..... its a common repro. This repro also has a wider skull than the real thing.
Hi Griff,

I assume this is the same type on E-W loops?
