Default 63 (ROYAL NAVAL) DIVISION

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if the division's 188, 189 and 190 Machine Gun Companies and 188, 189 and 190 Trench Mortar Batteries wore any sort of cloth patch?

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

Ken

Hi Ken, do you mean any cloth patch or sign specific to these companies and batteries? I don’t know, but I would suspect, they they wore the patches and insignia that the Division and Battalions wore. Osprey Men-At-Arms have a couple of illustrations of 63 Divisional men.

Hi Mark,
I have that booklet, nothing in it at all to do with the division. There is some patches though on the inside backcover of the MHS's British Army Corps and Divisional Signs to do with the 63 (RN) Div and one is a light blue diamond with a dark blue blue border and anchor in the centre and is marked as being RM MG.set, 190 Bde.
Thought I would try this forum.
Best regards,
Ken

Hi Bryan,
Yes, I mean specific patches to the MG Coys and TMBs. The RN battalions of the division wore light blue and dark blue patches except Hawks Bn which wore a black hawk and the RM and army bns wore patches in regimental colours.
Best regards,
Ken
