ROYAL SCOTS?
Hi gang, anyone got an idea what this is. It say's Royal Scots, is this an official badge of the regiment.

looks like the prongs are meant to be hammered into a plaque or something instead of a hat badge.

Yes you probably have, because its not a cap badge although there was a Royal Scots named locomotive so maybe its to do with that.

Probably a sweatheart device. The bod in the centre would be Pontius pilot as one of the Royal Scots nicknames was `Pontius Pilots Bodyguard`. Interesting story how they came about this name.

During service in France in the 1630s the Royal Scots earned the nickname “Pontius Pilate’s Bodyguards.” The French Regiment of Picardy asserted that their regiment was the older regiment, having been on guard at the Crucifixion. The Royal Scots claimed they were there too, as bodyguards to the governor!
