Looking at the photographs, I would have said that particular wing does not have any significant age to it.

The wings shown in the book have fully embroidered feathers(?)

Note split feathers and embroidered on dark blue felt.

Would any one have dates on wear and is it still used today?

Yes as per Jim's comment could of been used up to early 2000's before the red badges were abolished.

I had posted this RN Title before,would this be in the same time frame and used up to 2000's?

Originally I had assumed the title was WWII but that is not the case, however there were no opinions on when it could of been issued.

Difficult one, white on black embroidered was worn on pongo type jumpers. I've never seen red on black.
I think white on black was worn on battledress.
Definitely pre 1970.

Seems odd that there is scarce info about the red RN Cloth title to the point of being if it was ever issued?

I have been out of the picture for a while and am just catching up.

I have just dug out my Naval Ratings Handbook (1975) and your badge is shown as worn on the left cuff (Plate 2 Page 200).

Now, about ten years ago, I was at field textiles and I pulled a ratings class 1 jumper out of one of the bins which had the Parachutists badge on the shoulder, but I don't remember which one. the badge was a modern "tinsel" badge (lurex?) and the jumper was the type with the silk sewn in. Unfortunately, the jumper was in a sorry state, but I saved the badge.

If I can find the time, I will dig it out and upload an image.

Out of interest, my red Parachutists badge has the plastic backing.

Unfortunately, the period that these badges were worn is out of my period of interest, so I can add little else I'm afraid

For those that have been in contact, I will get back as soon as I can....

There is a wealth of information on many things Royal Navy on a site owned by Godfrey Dykes. Particularly interesting I found was the section on RN Warrant Officers and the total lack of equivalence to army WOs.

Amazing as it seems, red badges were abolished as long ago as 1994 - though they were allowed to be worn until 1996. Where has the time gone?!

This is the wings as worn on the CS95 DPM shirt by qualified RN pax.

If anyone is interested I can upload some other bits from my collection - 1s, 7s, 4 AWD, Desert DPM, MTP, jumpers etc

Excuse me for my lack of knowledge, so this would of been used on the Class 1 jumper, would that be the normal colour or could they have used other colours on the Class I jumper at the time.

Quite a nice tinsel effect PW.
