101 Troop, 6 Commando
Item #350 in Bosleys upcoming 29 January 2020 auction is a 101 Troop 6 Commando formation sign. I would appreciate hearing what others think of it.

It already sold at their last auction, your link is to the last auction
It was a good one. I think it was about £4500 including extras SC |

I remember seeing it and certainly thought at the time "I need to have that" sadly, reality got in the way!

Frank - it is true. I sometimes wonder what veterans would have thought if they were alive today. Given many of them lived in houses that would have cost them possibly half, or a third, (or even less) of the price of such items of insignia today.
Average UK House prices - ONS [Office of National Statistics] Table 502 https://assets.publishing.service.go..._502_-_ONS.xls Year £ 1930 590 1931 600 1932 540 1933 530 1934 515 1935 530 1936 550 1937 540 1938 545 1939-1945 1946 1,459 1947 1,824 1948 1,751 1949 1,911 1950 1,940 1951 2,115 1952 2,028 1953 2,006 1954 1,970 1955 2,064 1956 2,280 1957 2,330 1958 2,390 1959 2,410 Quite mad really - I often wondered if we collectors will one day have a big reunion in the funny farm or the poor house. Agreed, it is rather more money that the majority of those fellows would have ever seen in their lifetimes, regarding the latter, I suspect the poor house is a safe bet.
